Welcome Facebook friends and family! I'm glad we got your curiosity aroused and you are looking at our blog! If you have time and want to read our story from the beginning to present, I encourage you to go to the first posting in January and read your way up. If you just want a synopsis, read on!
God has placed orphans on our hearts. A quote from John Piper sums it up : "The deepest and strongest foundation for adoption is located not in the act of humans adopting humans, but in God adopting humans. And this act is not part of his ordinary providence in the world; it is at the HEART OF THE GOSPEL." We have just begun the adventure of adoption! We have already faced criticism from a few of those close to us, because we already have been blessed with three biological children. Why would we want a fourth or a fifth or.....? I agree, this is not going to be easy, but God never promised us an easy life. However, he has commanded us to follow His leading. When He grips your heart to do something, you obey-not out of fear of the consequences, but out of pure love and desire to glorify His name. Kris and I are so excited, but also anxious. We are having our first two home-studies on April 26 and 27. If all runs smoothly, our first daughter (our fourth flower!) should arrive home from China in approx. one year.
So where do you fall in? I will be happy to answer questions-many of them will be answered if you read the entries from earlier. The first and most important thing we need is prayer. Pray our first daughter home! Pray for strength for us as we stay up long nights working on the extensive list of requirements for our home-study. Secondly, please support us in this. Even if God has not put a similar burden for orphans on your heart, we need your support. Ask us often about how things are going. Get involved in orphan care and support by researching the world-wide needs around you. Buy the book Orphanology and cry out to God with us for mercy on the millions of orphans in the world who are suffering and hopeless. And last of all, be followers on this blog! We want to keep you informed and share this exciting and faith-challenging process with you.
